The car being chased is a Ford Mustang GT and usually equipped with a 5.0 Litre engine it's a long time popular "hot rod" among the youngster along with the Cameras and Firebirds from GM.  Most of the police cruisers in US all equipped with special tuned V8 and can keep up with most of the hot rods as you can witnessed in this video.  The police here decided to bump the Mustang because the guy driving the stolen vehicle could have caused more severe damages if not stopped early!  BTW: the accident took place in I270 which goes right through my US hometown in Maryland (US East Coast not far from Washington DC).
