We made ours about 45 inches from ground (thats the mid-point) because normally the height of the sofa you sit on is around 17" from the ground level.  We then add the height from where we are sitting to the eyes level to get the mid-point of the plasma.  You can calaculate the average of different ppl's eye level to find a height that is good for your family members!
