Agreed it's a chance that I took. These plasma TV can last 60000 hours which is equivalent to about 6.85 years running non-stop assuming that a typical display unit runs nonstop 24 hours a day for a year it still have close to 6 years non-stop round the clock usage that's a lot of life left for TV and DVD watching especially I only spend about 4 to 5 hours max every day. I'm sure before my Plasma hits its lifespan I would change to newer technology by then!
That depends on the makers and the technology that's true for the earlier generation of Plasma TV but not the latest generation. Even if worst case 40000 hours is a long time away and I have no desire to spend that many hours in front of a Plasma TV! Frankly these Plasma will be so cheap in a few years as they will all be made in China so why spend so much money get a good deal now and save the difference and buy a better one in a few years! BTW: I seriously doubt any display unit ran for 24 hours nonstop for a year and nice thing about display units besides the low price is that it had all the initial problems and bugs fixed.
