169.xxx IP Address is windows 2000/XP random IP address for no DHCP case.

It's impossible to get all sockets to have access.

no no...i don't mean i need to have access in every room.
i have wireless router and i am going to share internet anyway.

the problem is after 搵人拉線 the broadband socket of the smallest room is not working can't get IP at all so i tried another room to see if the worker accidentally connected the wire in the smallest room...hai..no clue at all

I found the HGC service in RC is not stable at least yesterday afternoon from 3:00 to 5:00pm. I constantly lost ping packet to the local gateway. DHCP is not working all the time. Not sure if they are doing some maintenance for the network.

So the problem is not always be cable issue. For XP you can try release the IP address and get it again to solve some of problem with DHCP.

i am using mac OS X and i try to renew IP address for a few times i guess i better test again in the coming days. thanks for your suggestion liuh!

if they restrict to distribute only one MAC address for each flat it is no way to access Internet at all sockets at the same time without using Broadband router.

if anyone wants to use more than one computer use a router

the socket that give you 202.xxx.xxx.xxx should be the working one
