I have browsed on Toshiba web page. They do have split type aircon with single outdoor unit to serve 3 or 4 indoor unito. The bad news for us the outdoor unit has only SINGLE compressor. That can save power consumption. But compressor may have to work 24 hours a day!!!
If you want more information you can visit the following web site for detail. I think we are using the outdoor unit RAS-3M23YACV-E (two-bedroom) and RAS-4M27YACV-E (Three-bedroom)

No need to afraid that. The air conditioner is a VRV system which was developed in early 90s in UK and USA.
The compressor is running in variable speed under frequency inverter to control the motor; energy consumption will subject to how many indoor units in operating.

The point still stands. As far as any indoor unit is in active mode the compressor will be operating. Normally you either use aircon in living room or in bedroom. That means compressor will operate 24 hours a day. I worry about the system overrun.
