craftsman question

i talked to a friend who is really a decoration craftsman.
he told me the followings story
1. i have paul y's wooden 888 wardrobe he said he can change the door from 掩門 to 躺門 with $600
2. he can change a 81 inch straight wall  to L shape wall 2 fleet away
(please consider removing a wall an rebuilding it with L shape). the price is $2000
3. he can 剷灰 and repaint all the walls of the house the price is $6000
however i cannot appoint him due to political reason(he has job already)
he is just helping as 'consultant'

i talked to certain design company the price is crazy
e.g.
$2500 for 1.
$6000 for 2.
$10000 for 3.

so i feel the price difference is related to 公司 earning money

so can anyone tell me where can i approach a craftsman directly?
so that i can save $?
